====== Student Desk ====== > **Summary** > //Summarises the general activities of the Student Desk, in addition to its tasks during the different phases of a (undergraduate) student's study programme.// >**Fontys ICT RACI** >//For more information on how this page fits within RACI, see the domains Education Support and Business.// ===== Introduction ===== At all Fontys ICT locations, the Student Desk (SD) supports the administrative registration of the various phases of the study career of all Fontys ICT students and course participants. In this Policy Wiki you will also find the contact details of the Student Desk. ===== Application and enrolment ===== Before September 1st, all **new** (full-time) students must have applied via Studielink. Before enrolment is final, all enrolment documents must be in order: diploma prior education, tuition fee payment, etc. \\ For the February intake, they must have made an application in Studielink by 1 February. The process otherwise remains the same. \\ **All** sitting students who have not yet graduated before 1 September must arrange for their own re-registration in Studielink. ===== Intakes & First semester ===== Students applying for the HBO-ICT study programme receive a welcome e-mail and a link to a questionnaire (Study choice check). The student completes this questionnaire and then receives an invitation for an intake interview. This is followed by a recommendation. If the student decides to come and study with us, he will start in the first semester where he will orientate on Fontys ICT's HBO-ICT study programme and the broad professional field of ICT. ===== Choices in semesters ===== Students make fresh selections of offered topics and study pathways for each subsequent semester (semesters 2‑3‑4‑6‑7). Selections are made by enrolling in Progress. In the week preceding the enrolment window, students receive an e‑mail with the offering of choices for the upcoming semester and instructions for enrolling in Progress. The day after the deadline, the made choices are imported into Student Progress Administration . A timetable for this process has been established. For every semester the Student Desk carries out a large number of administrative tasks, including registering topics, processing study results and preparing assessors’ meetings. ===== Class lists ===== The actual class lists can be found for students and employees on the Student Square of the Fontys ICT portal. ===== Internship ===== If a student has permission for internship, he will start looking for an internship. Students can search for an internship assignment via the study programme's database or search independently for a company and a suitable assignment. The administration and organisation around internship companies and assignments, internship preparation, supervision, completion and assessment lies with the Student Desk. ===== Minors===== Students may take one free minor in semester 6 or in semester 7. By a free minor, we mean a Fontys ICT minor, Fontys minor, external minor or foreign minor. Some of these minors are only offered once a year. Fontys ICT students who take a minor outside Fontys ICT and complete it with a pass will receive a minor certificate. The same applies to 'external' students taking a minor at Fontys ICT. ===== Graduation ===== Once a student has completed the entire study programme, the Student Desk still plays an important role in graduation and obtaining the certificate. \\ All administration and organisation around companies and assignments such as preparation, supervision, submission of theses, assessment and graduation sessions lie with the Student Desk. ===== Certificates ===== Once our students have graduated, certificates and diploma supplements are created in Progress. These documents are archived in ..:beleid:content_manager. Graduates additionally receive a Competence Profiling supplement. For our graduates, we organise graduation ceremonies twice a year: * in March and July (or Sept) major awards: BSc VT, AD VT, BSc and AD Pro and MSc. Graduates sign for receipt of their certificates. \\ ===== Partners in Education ===== In doing so, the Student Desk provides administrative support for our collaboration with Partners in Education, organises the annual Fontys ICT Careerday, coordinates the allocation of external experts at graduation and organises meetings for company supervisors at internships. ===== Packages in Progress===== The TER (Teaching and Examination Regulations) sets out the basis of our curriculum and is the guideline for the diploma and diploma supplement. This is closely linked to the set-up of our student progress administration system Progress, where credits and corresponding (partial) results are registered. ===== Fontys ICT International ===== Administrative support for our internationalisation activities also lies with the Student Desk. We use the Mobility Online programme for this purpose. Students wishing to do a minor, internship or graduation abroad must register there.
