Summary
Information for employees on the legal possibilities in situations where house rules are violated by students. Where can employees report incidents and what happens after a report.
Violation of house rules
Within Fontys we have rules of conduct which are included in the Fontys house rules and order measures. These rules must be followed by anyone present on Fontys premises or in Fontys buildings, or on the premises and in the buildings used by Fontys. The rules of conduct apply accordingly to activities organised by Fontys outside the Fontys grounds and buildings (such as during internships, excursions, introductory activities. Students who violate one (or more) of the house rule(s) may be called to account.
Measures
If the rules of conduct are violated, (a combination of) measures may be imposed. According to the Student Charter, the Managing Director is the competent person for this, but our Managing Director has mandated this authority to the Operations Managers (UM's) of the various locations. In such situations, staff may report this to the relevant UM. The UM, in cooperation with the legal expert, will invite the student(s) concerned for an interview and impose an appropriate measure. The different types of measures and the procedure for these are set out in article 42 of the Fontys Student Charter.
