Coaching tracks Student+

Summary
In the educational vision of Fontys ICT, the focus is on student centred education. In the context of talent development, we aim to provide each student with appropriate guidance in his or her development. This page describes the different types of coaching that Student+ offers and how the process goes when a student is eligible for a coaching trajectory from Student+.

Overview coaching trajectory

If a semester coach for a student coaching from Student+ is desired, the intake of this process takes place via the route shown in figure 1.

Track management: intake, monitoring/advice, conclusion by Student+

After the intake interview, there are various follow-up possibilities. These are shown schematically in figure 2. These possibilities are briefly described in the following paragraphs.

Semester Coach

Supervision by the semester coach is sufficient for the vast majority of the students. The semester coach has basic skills in the field of coaching students. The semester coach can see in the Student Tracking System (SVS) whether the student has extra guidance at Student+. In addition, he can get tailored information and tips for coaching on the study coach square or at Student+.

Mentor

Long-term relationship of trust with the student, preferably from the profile. This should be requested via dean, Student+ can support this.

Study Coach

Short-term coaching programme focused on limited goals aimed at the student's personal development. From semester 1 to semester 8, full-time and Education for Professionals.

Job Coach

Aimed at finding, retaining and completing graduation internship and finding work. In collaboration with Project Career Jumpstart.

Backup Semester coach by Student+

The semester coach identifies obstacles to study success. Student+ supports the semester coach with professionalisation offers, workshops, tools, advice or interventions. The semester coach records what he has done to optimise guidance, for example in canvas at Studycoach and feedpulse. If this proves insufficient, Student+ comes into the student's picture. Both the semester coach and the student can apply to Student+.

Intake by Student+.

The process starts with an intake interview, after which the Student+ coaching process is recorded in SVS: possibly extra support by a study coach, mentor, psychologist and/or dean. In addition, there are also opportunities for extra training and workshops. For a mentor, the deanery allocates extra hours per semester that match the guidance question of the student.

Backup study coaches and mentor by Student+

Student+ monitors the process of guidance with the study coach/mentor and makes adjustments where necessary by providing advice or by deploying its own/external guidance. Student+ takes care of the professionalisation offer and intervision/support of the mentor and the study coaches. Student+ has a governing role in the division of tasks if there are several supervisors and monitoring the progress.

Evaluation of coaching tracks

Student+ monitors the supervision of the mentor and/or semester coach every semester for effect and assesses whether an extension is necessary. If no additional guidance is required, the coaching process is concluded and feedback is given to the semester coach.
