Intake

Summary
The state of affairs regarding intake: information and study choice, interviews and recommendations are described here.

Introduction

The intake procedure as described on this page only applies to candidate students who register for the Demand-based full-time and Associate degree study programme and is only intended for students who start in the first semester. General information about enrolling at Fontys can be found on the Fontys portal.

Information for the February intake

After applying via Studielink, the prospective student will receive an invitation for the Study Choice Check (SKC). The SKC consists only of a compulsory online questionnaire.

In addition, a student may request an additional intake interview with either a Student+ employee and/or a lecturer from the First Semester.

Information for the September intake

After applying via Studielink, the prospective student will receive an invitation for the Study Choice Check (SKC). The SKC consists of 2 mandatory parts:

In addition, students can request an additional intake interview with either a Student+ staff member and a lecturer of the First semester.

The study choice check activity

All candidates who have applied before 1 May will be invited for a mandatory study choice check activity. The day on which this activity takes place consists of three parts:

  1. General information:
    • Information about the study programme in general and about the first semester in particular;
    • important data and information.
  2. Following 1 workshop
  3. A meeting with senior students of the study association to exchange experiences. These students also provide information about the Fontys ICT introduction.

Workshops

There are 5 workshops offered (of each profile) of 45 minutes. During these workshops the profile but also the didactics of the teaching method will be discussed. The prospective student will be assigned to one of five workshops. The SKC activity always takes place in the OIL so that the student experiences it.

The advice

We do not advise students who have followed the Study Choice Check activity. We leave the choice of study to the student. Through the study activity they experience not only a profile but also the didactic working methods and the atmosphere (OIL) in which it takes place. For students who registered after May 1, there will always be an intake interview and the 2nd part of the study choice check (SKC) will be cancelled.

Based on the available information about the candidate student and the course of the intake interview, the intaker formulates an advice. This advice shall be expressed in terms of A, B, C or D:

If a candidate has registered in higher education after 1 May, the advice is binding. This means that candidates with a C or D mark will not be admitted. The candidate in question may object to this and request a second intake interview. In this case, you will find the Arrangements Study check advice.

In all cases (before or after 1 May) candidates with C or D advice are referred to the student career center. Here they can make an appointment free of charge for support in their choice of study.
