House rules OILs and buildings
Summary
In education, classes have an Open ICT Lab (OIL) at their disposal throughout the week (or in the second year a few days a week). The OILs include workstations for project groups, a lab, consultation rooms, a silence room and an instruction room. In order to continue to make good use of these OILs sustainably, a number of arrangements have been laid down.
House rules for the daily use of the OILs
In order to keep all Fontys ICT rooms tidy and functional, 5 basic rules have been drawn up;
- Everyone leaves the room clean;
- Furniture from other rooms is put back afterwards;
- Whiteboards are not wiped out by other people during the semester. Share annotation space with other groups learning and working in the OIL;
- Materials and posters may be hung but should not damage walls;
- At the end of a semester, rooms are returned in accordance with the inventory list. This is known to the ISSD of the location.
Ownership
- At the beginning of the semester, the OIL is fully furnished;
- Students ensure that by week 20:
- the OILs are returned in the same condition as they were occupied by the classes at the beginning, with the same numbers and type of furniture;
- walls, doors, windows and whiteboards are cleared of posters, flipover material and “yellowing”;
- The PLOUs monitor this. In lesson week 18, the PLOUs receive a reminder about this via e-mail from the management assistant of the relevant location;
- In lesson week 20, the OILs are checked on the established inventory by management along with preferably the previous and new PLOUs of the respective locations. Should the PLOUs not be able to attend, any discrepancies will still be fed back to the teams concerned.
The facilities in the OILs support the student's learning process. The way in which this is implemented may differ per location. Information about this can be requested from UM, PLOU or OWK.
