Summary
An overview of the duties and responsibilities of a Research Group Manager within Fontys ICT.
Purpose
The purpose of the role of Research Group Manager is to take care of the organisational and operational aspects of the research group. In consultation with the professor, the strategic and tactical course is implemented.
Tasks and responsibilities
The Research Group Manager has the following tasks and responsibilities:
- Monitor, and direct the scope and content of the project portfolio;
- Coordinates the ‘portrayal on’ educational semesters of acquired projects;
- Launch acquired projects;
- Monitor progress of ongoing projects;
- Manages research group operations including the necessary competence development for the research group;
- Participates in the operational research consultation, in which the research groups share and jointly address tactical and operational issues;
- Makes the connection between research and education within Fontys ICT;
- Links the research groups, Partners in Innovation and several semesters together, with a view to sustainable knowledge building;
- Contributes to the ambitions of Fontys ICT.
Powers
- The Research Group Manager is responsible for finances and coordinates with Planning & Finance in this regard;
- The Research Group Manager recruits project leaders and researchers, allocates allocation hours and supervises them during start-up;
- The Research Group Manager is ultimately responsible for the allocation to research necessary to realise the research commitments and thereby monitors the financial frameworks.
