Naming convention
Summary
This page gives an overview of the agreements we have made regarding the naming and coding of various objects within the information provision (IV) of Fontys ICT.
Why do codes have to be named?
Codes for fields of expertise, classes, lecturers and classrooms are used in various information systems within Fontys ICT. In order to ensure that a code has the same meaning for everyone, it is necessary to make broad agreements about this. These agreements are described in this naming convention.
Scope
The codes that are discussed are diverse: class codes, educational pathways, subject codes, package codes in Progress, unit of study codes in Progress and time periods. For specific Canvas, these codes are supplemented with agreements on the naming of (master) courses, competences and performance indicators.
These codes are used in several information systems for educational support and implementation, such as in:
- SVS
- Progress
- Xedule
- Canvas
- allocation system
