Enrolment and unenrolment procedure

Summary
This page contains the most important information about enrolment and unenrolment. There are 3 topics that are described below: enrolling, changing study programme and unenrolling.

Enrol

There are 2 enrolment moments a year:

  1. aimed at starting from 1 February;
  2. aimed at starting from 1 September.

At the start of the study on 1 September, the enrolment must be completed by 31 August complete at the latest. For the February intake, the deadline is January 31st.
The enrolment must be in order before the actual start of the study. If the enrolment is not made in time, no education may be followed and this may have consequences for the possible receipt of student grant and student travel product.

Change of study programme

If a student does not want to continue the current study programme at the end of the academic year and wants to start another study programme by 1 September, he chooses the option 'do not re-enrol' on the 'My Studielink' page.
Then enrolment is required for the new study programme as of 1 September via Studielink.
In order to switch to another study programme during the academic year, a request for unenrolment (VTU) in Studielink is required for the current study programme and subsequently a new enrolment request (VTI) for the new study programme.

Temporary deregistration prior to internship or graduation.

For various reasons, students may wish to temporarily deregister (interrupt their studies) before starting internships or graduation. For example, when they have not found a suitable internship or assignment in time. Or when other obstacles hinder starting the internship. Because these are relatively minor obstacles that do cost the student half a year of study delay (including tuition fees), the decision is made to interrupt the study temporarily. If students want to deregister shortly before their internship or graduation, this poses a problem because intake in the internship/graduation semester actually already takes place from week 5 in the semester prior to the internship or graduation. The student is then already linked to an internship/graduation coordinator, receives information and submits an assignment for approval. The latter must take place no later than week 18 of the previous semester. Students who are deregistered do not have access to all the necessary tooling and do not receive e-mails. However, we do not want to force students to enrol for an entire semester for a few specific support moments. Therefore, we define the procedure below.

Process Unsubscribing Semester for Internship/Graduation

  1. Student reports to the coordinator of the intended direction for internship or graduation. Coordinator notes that the student deregisters and will return in due course to do an internship/graduation.
  2. Student reports to the Student Desk. The Student Desk informs the internship/graduation administration that the student deregisters and will return to do an internship or graduation in due course.
  3. Student Desk reminds the student of this process, especially of the consequences below (*).
  4. Student downloads the necessary information to acquire an assignment that meets the set requirements and prepare for the internship.
  5. Student+ deregisters.
  6. Student enrols again by 1 January or 1 July at the latest.
  7. Student Desk arranges a “declaration of enrolment” using the form below and records the form as TUSIN in Content Manager.
  8. Student reports to the Student Desk and the coordinator after the accounts have been reactivated. The Student+ Desk adds the student to all systems relevant to internship or graduation.
  9. Student submits an assignment to the coordinator as soon as possible after addition (but no later than the set deadline). After approval of the assignment, the student will be included in the regular internship/graduation process.

Consequences for the student
As long as students are not enrolled, they are not entitled to communication/support from the student desk or coordinators. Students enrolling later than 1 January or 1 July can no longer participate in the upcoming internship or graduation semester. There is then not enough time to arrange all formalities.

Student Permit
Students studying with a visa are not allowed to deregister temporarily, they must remain enrolled because of their visa, as it is a student permit.
There are also students who have a different type of visa, such as 'stay with partner'.

Unenrolment

In the event of a (temporary) termination of the study programme, unenrolment via Studielink is compulsory. Upon graduation, a request for unenrolment can be submitted to Studielink. This request must be submitted before the first day of the month in which the unenrolment is to become effective. Unenroling with a date in the past is not possible. A student is always unenroled on the first day of the next calendar month. If you quit the study programme at the end of the academic year (31 August), you will need to log out via Studielink. The student then chooses the option of 'no re-enrolment'.
