Knowledge institution

Potential for the future

Summary
Brief description of the ambition theme Knowledge institution. As one of the 8 ambition themes, the ambition theme Knowledge institution was part of the Fontys ICT Ambition Plan 2013-2017 and focused on a strong connection with the work field in the field of education, research and knowledge sharing.

Introduction

In 2013, Fontys ICT formulated the goal of giving shape to the ambition theme Knowledge institutions. The institute takes on a role as a party, where ICT professionals in the wider region can go to for professionalisation, knowledge sharing and development and the execution of consultancy assignments.

This ambition theme was temporarily on hold, because Fontys ICT has grown very fast in a short period of time. To ensure development in the right direction, Fontys ICT has initially focused on its own organisation. This is done to ensure sufficient grip to be able to maintain the well-being and performance of a strongly growing team. The other reason for pausing the ambition theme is the careful monitoring (and enlargement) of the educational quality for our students.

Current situation

It has been established that Fontys ICT already has a strong connection with the work field. We have four research groups that are involved in education and work together. To get a good overview of what Fontys ICT is already doing in the field of knowledge institution, all areas of attention that play a role here have been mapped out. Linking pins have been appointed for this purpose. These channels are:

Knowledge institution, the assignment

  • Organising meetings regularly, with those involved, in which everyone shows what is going on and what is going on in the relevant area of interest.
  • Inspire each other, make overlap and/or synergy visible and promote cooperation
  • Through the connection discover new growth-opportunities for Fontys ICT as a knowledge institution
  • Publicise Fontys ICT as a knowledge institution

In the coming years, Fontys ICT will continue to strengthen the connection with its knowledge environment: knowledge sharing and knowledge creation to improve education and research.
