Starting moments graduation

Summary
The planning of the starting points and the associated graduation sessions is described for each form of education.

1. Full-time study programmes

For the full-time study programmes bachelor, associate degree and (part-time) master, the following applies.

  • There are two starting moments per year for the graduation, each time the first lesson week of each semester. The graduation session is at the end of the semester (lesson week 19 or 20).
  • If a delay has occurred (e.g. due to illness), permission can be requested through the examination chamber to move the starting moment and/or graduation session to lesson week 10.

2. Education for Professionals (OvP) study programmes

  • An OvP Final Assignment is the same size as full-time bachelor's students. The student is expected to carry out the assignment with his employer and thus, unlike regular OvP semesters, can work on the assignment as much as full-time students.
  • Because of the more limited time per week the OvP student can devote to their graduation (in addition to their regular duties), there is more flexibility in starting and finishing moments of the graduation internship at OvP.
  • Before starting, the OvP student records and agrees with school and employer the start date, time commitment per week and scheduled week for the graduation session (in lesson week 10 or lesson weeks 19/20), but no later than 1 year after the start of the graduation internship. The 1-year limit is based on the premise that an OvP student can devote 20 hours per week to their studies in addition to their work. Within one year, therefore, a full graduation internship can be completed in addition to work.
  • Should the OvP student prove to need more time during the graduation internship that can be well argued (e.g. due to personal situation, work circumstances), the OvP student can request approval for a graduation session at a later date through the examination chamber.
