This page explains the purpose, composition and how this body is anchored within Fontys ICT. It also describes what the assessment committee stands for.

The Assessment Committee consists of a delegation of members who are representative of all curricula and its implementation forms within Fontys ICT . The Assessment Committee has a supporting and advising role with respect to formative review and assessment. Both quality and the latest innovations in the field of assessment are central to this.

The Assessment Committee:

• thinks along about the vision on education and assessment.
• Is an active discussion partner for all bodies within Fontys ICT.
• It consists of assessment experts (SKE certified) who advise the Examination board and CurriculumCommittee (OO) as knowledge partners.
• forms a knowledge circle within the organisation to bring testing, test quality, innovations within assessment and the link between didactics and assessment to a higher level.
• Provides coaching and training on assessment according to the Fontys ICT vision and assessment policy.
• Announces our vision on assessment and helps teams with the development and translation into practice.
• is part of the Fontys Network Assessment.

The purpose of the assessment committee is to raise assessment to a higher level within Fontys ICT. The assessment committee wants to innovate in the field of assessment and didactics, finding answers which guarantee reliability, validity and transparency. The assessment committee believes in the added value of words compared to grades and propagates this within the organisation by means of a vision on formative assessment. Embedding assessment policy in the organisation is not a goal in itself, but a consequence of inspiring colleagues to start working with assessment.

The assessment committee consists of a delegation of members who are representative of all curricula and their implementation forms within Fontys ICT and is the point of contact for all lecturers with minor and major test questions. Lecturers (teams) can approach the assessment committee for specific advice on formative review and assessment. Members are regularly involved in educational development, as assessment design is often the starting point. During the year, the assessment committee undertakes the following activities:

• measuring the conformity of the assessment with the assessment policy and the vision of Fontys ICT. This is done per semester
• randomly checking test files
• reporting to the policy chamber, per semester
• regular coordination with policy chamber
• professionalising colleagues through coaching, workshops, study days and lunch meetings
• coach colleagues during Basic-level Teaching Qualification (BKO) and Mid-level Teaching Qualification (MKO) in the field of assessment and didactics
• communicate and publish new developments to the rest of the organisation
• supporting, advising and evaluating in the field of organising high-quality and student-friendly assessment
• participating in workshops and intervision sessions within the Fontys Network Assessment.

Assessment committee members are appointed by the management. The assessment committee reports to the examination board and to the line (the managing director). At the request of the examination board, the assessment committee can be allocated certain tasks. The assessment committee operates independently and has the possibility to make adjustments in consultation with the examination board and the managing director if necessary.

The assessment committee's own professionalisation consists of a.o:

• conference visits
• Achieving SKE
• intervision and workshops among themselves and within the Fontys Network Assessment
• keeping up to date with articles and literature on assessment
