Role description People Manager

Summary
A description of the purpose, tasks and responsibilities of the People Manager (PM). The PMs are responsible for the optimal deployment of Fontys ICT's human resources, through a talent-driven and colleague-centred approach, based on servant leadership.

Purpose

The purpose of the people management role is to develop and optimally deploy the human resources within Fontys ICT. Human resources are developed in the spirit of Fontys ICT's culture and principles. The PM does this by recruiting and selecting new colleagues and coaching and facilitating the development of the Fontys ICT professional. He fulfils this role based on the principle of 'servant leadership'. The PM works closely with Fontys ICT's HR department in carrying out the role.

Tasks and responsibilities

Recruitment
The PM is (as part of the PM-group, jointly) responsible for resource management at Fontys ICT. He's guaranteeing this though:

  • (Co) formulating, advising on and implementing short and long term personnel planning;
  • Selecting and advising on appointment of new colleagues;
  • Ensuring the introduction and onboarding process of new colleagues;
  • Securing the interview cycle for new colleagues with a temporary appointment.

Advancement
The PM is responsible for optimal facilitation and coaching of the development of 'his' team members. He implements this by:

  • Enhancing the personal quality, effectiveness and motivation of team members. Through coaching by the PM, the colleague will be able to optimally use his talents and create his own career;
  • Assessing and securing the development cycle for colleagues, which identifies the ambitions, talents, development and training needs colleagues will work on, in order to increase the sustainable employability of colleagues;
  • Fulfilling the role of case manager (in the context of Fontys' reintegration policy) for colleagues in the team who are unable to work: grants sick leave, determines the wage value, makes agreements about the reintegration, is responsible for registration and reporting;
  • Contributing to the institute policy as a member of the PM team; monitoring relevant developments, drafting memoranda and reports for the policy process, evaluating (new) policy and contributing to the adjustment, implementation and execution of current policy.

Exit
The PM is responsible for facilitating the career development of colleagues whose careers will continue outside Fontys ICT. He implements this by:

  • For colleagues whose talents do not fit optimally within Fontys ICT, the PM safeguards the interview cycle and reporting in the context of outflow;
  • Securing outplacement trajectories.

Powers

Delegated employer for the above tasks and responsibilities . Explaining, giving meaning to delegated employment:

  • This means that the PM in his role of employer is responsible for informing colleagues about organization-wide aspects and for signing (employment) agreements;
  • Has decision-making authority on escalation on allocation related issues from project leaders (PLs) and or colleagues .
